M-L's September Favourites of 2014

          Hey, how's it going everyone?

Can you believe it's already been a month since school started? I still can't... It seems like time is flying by so fast. And yeah yeah, I know everyone says that, but it's true! Don't you think so? It's already the month of October! Halloween is almost here! Anyway, it's time for me to share with you guys what I have been LOVING this month!
Ooh wait! Before I begin, let's just take a moment to enjoy the pictures I took, shall we ;)? I take my pictures with my iPad and I have just updated it to the iOS 8! I used the iOS 7 before, but after that I stopped updating my iPad until last week! The Photo App has so many editing features and I just went a little crazy trying to make my pictures "pop" and "pizazz"! Well, actually, I didn't really do much with the editing features, but I still tried to make my photos a little nicer! So, with that small tidbit aside, let's begin!

  • Starting off, I think the number one favourite out of all for this month is the deodorant that I've been using everyday since school started, actually. It's the Dove Go Sleeveless Beauty Finish Deodorant and Anti-Perspirant. Holy cow, I am IN LOVE with the smell! Plus, when I bought it, it was on sale! WIN WIN! I don't know what it smells like, and the deodorant bottle/can/packaging thing doesn't say what it's supposed to smell like. I dunno, there's a pearl on the cover... Anyway, I reeeeally love the deodorant! It says it has vitamin E and 1/4 moisturizer. So it basically softens your underarms. Honestly, I only bought because of that smell... ^0^

  • The Body Shop's Mango Body Butter has been one of my favourites this month! I've been watching essiebutton and she keeps raving about these body butters from The Body Shop so when my sister offered me a small size version of the mango body butter, I was like "SCORE" and accepted it ^_-! And, sigh... the smell of it... and the texture! It is the thickest lotion I have ever used. No joke. It takes a bit more time to sink into the skin in my opinion. I liked using this during the month because September was still considered summer (except the one week where it was snowing) and the scent of the body butter is very fruity and refreshing, and it reminds me of summer. But, since the weather is transitioning from hot to cold, the body butter works great to hydrate my body!

  • I've been using the Bath and Body Works' Aqua Blossom Hand Gel everyday at school. I keep it in my pencil case and put it on a lot of times throughout the day. The smell is so refreshing, and I LOVE refreshing scents, and it leaves my hands feeling pretty clean and not that dirty sticky feeling. Ooh, quick little story! Okay, so during homeroom about two weeks ago, my friends and I put on some of my hand sanitizer and my homeroom teacher was near us and asked us what the smell was. I handed her my hand sanitizer to let her smell it and that was when my school's principal came in to talk with my teacher. She noticed the smell too and my teacher handed her my hand sanitizer. She asked me if she could put some on. Of course I said yes, buuuuuuut, I didn't know she was going to twist open the lid and squeeze out so much on her hand! My friends' jaws dropped, and when our principal handed the hand gel back to me and rubbed her hands together, she said "Ah, fresh hands!. Anyway, I've been loving the hand gel this month.

  • I've been really enjoying the Sabra Classic Hummus this month. It's especially tasty with vegetables like carrots, broccoli, cucumber, tomatoes, and celery! My family and I got the hummus from Costco. We've never had it before, but when we tried it we instantly fell in love with it. So we've been cutting up veggies every weekend and putting them in little Ziploc bags that will last us the whole week and then popping in a little container of the hummus in them. And every day we bring them to school or work and it's a very good way to eat your vegetables!

  •  My next favourite is the Bic Reaction Mechanical Pencil. Okay, so you know those pencils that don't have the cushion thing around it? And when you write a lot with them you end up with sore red hands? Yeah? These don't leave your hands sore at all. It's a larger pencil than the usual which is good for your hands. And the pencil has a softer cushion around it. And, sigh. It's probably my favourite pencil ever. I got it on sale too! And, because it's a mechanical pencil, I can keep on reusing them! When it runs out of lead I can push in a new one and use it again! Speaking of, it uses a 0.7 mm lead and I love using 0.7 mm lead because it's not too thick that it smudges a lot nor too thin that it snaps every time you put the slightest pressure on it. I really recommend it!

  •  My last favourite is a beauty YouTuber, essiebutton! Man, she is so COOL! It's hard to explain, but she's just so real, you know? She's genuine, witty, she gives good reviews, and she's Canadian but she's lives in England! I've been watching her so much this month! Especially her favourites and her empties videos! And I'll be honest with you guys, once I finished watching all her favourites and empties, I watched them. Again. I don't know, I just love watching her and listen to her talk about different products she likes or doesn't like! In the morning while I get ready for school, I put up her videos on my iPad and bring it around the house with me (except for the bathroom ;) ) as I get ready for school! It's a good time for me to watch her during the morning because after school I'm usually busy. Also because I get lonely during the morning, so I like having her company! ^.^  essiebutton

So these have been my faves for September 2014! Until next time folks!

A Crazy Math & Science Teacher? Yes...

          Hey y'all!

How's it going? I'm doing great!
So, I was debating on whether or not to write this post and put it out into the world. It's not that I'm worried someone from my school will read this and tell my teacher what I wrote about her. In fact, my teacher literally told us on the first or second class we had with her that she doesn't care what we think or say of her. But still... I'm not writing anything rude at all. But truthfully, I like my teacher even though she is very messed up in that little brain of hers. I just want to share with you my class's experience with this uh... unique teacher.

I'm not saying her name, but we'll call her Prof Lunatic, alright? Okay. I guess I should tell you what my first impression was of her... Oh okay so last year, everyone in my grade loved Prof Lunatic and we all wanted her as our teacher. We thought that she was so funny and witty, and that we would only have fun in her class. So on the first day of school when we asked our homeroom teacher who we would have as our Math and Science teacher, our homeroom teacher said Prof Lunatic. Automatically we were relieved that we had the supposed "coolest teacher" in the world.
Alright, so we have Prof Lunatic's Math and Science classes during the last two periods of the day. You guys all know how tiring it can be at the end of the day, right? Especially on the first day of school because all of your classes only consist of your teacher talking about what you'll learn all year? So we're all kind of tired. Prof Lunatic totally understands what we're dealing with, which is surprising! She's all like, "I know you guys are tired and hungry, and you just can't wait to get home and sleep. All you've done today is listen to your teachers talk on and on about stuff. But just bear with me, this is your last class before you can go home and sleep.". She's very understanding and so we're all like, "Oh yeah, best teacher EVEEEER.".
So Prof Lunatic talks on and on about how the night of our first day of school is going to roll out, when we shove forms in our parents' faces to make them sign sheets and the house will turn into a "gong show". And the class is like, "No way, she totally gets us!". And she does, because she has kids too who do that! Anyways, so she keeps talking about random and funny stuff, and seriously, the whole class is literally like, "HOLY COW WE LOVE YOU. THIS IS GOING TO BE THE MOST AMAZING YEAR EVER.".
And seriously, the whole two periods we had with her, Prof Lunatic barely talked about math and science. She just keeps making weird motions with her arms and talking about stuff other what we actually needed to hear!

So fast forward now to the next day. We still have Prof Lunatic the last two periods at the end of the day. Everyone's like, "Oh yes! We have math and science!" which is very surprising. So we go into the classroom laughing, talking to each other, taking our leisurely time and then PAF. Prof Lunatic is rushing us to be quiet, taking out our math and science journals and being prepared. I mean, she was suddenly so strict. So the whole class calms down, right? We're all confused. Prof Lunatic is at her desk organizing something. Once we're all settled, Prof Lunatic tells us about how slow we are and how we're in Grade 8 and we're supposed to be ready in ten seconds time and blah blah. Now I think you can imagine the whole class' reaction. What happened to her? What did we do wrong? The whole two periods we did was work. And then Prof Lunatic assigns us homework. I don't mind homework, but it's the next day that surprises me.

The next day during Math and Science, Prof Lunatic asks if any of us didn't finish our homework. If I remember correctly, it was about six people in my class who either forgot to do it or just didn't do it. Prof Lunatic then goes all like, "Alright, you have DT (detention) with me after school until four o'clock.". And then she tells us that she "strategically" signed up to be the DT supervisor every Wednesday for us! Like, WHAT? After, we had to do work and Prof Lunatic leaves the classroom. She comes back a few minutes later saying that she told the principal about how our homeroom doesn't complete their work and finish homework. And now we are completely terrified of her. A girl in my class whispered to me "So this is what it's like after day one, okay...".

We then review our homework sheet and it's extremely quiet in the classroom. But once we're finished, Prof Lunatic asks those who didn't complete their homework if they want a jail free card! You know, from Monopoly? She asks them if they want a jail free card so they don't have to stay after school! We're all like, "UH, what???". She starts joking around with us and we're here like, "WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED?". Prof Lunatic asks us, "Now, do you guys understand how I roll?". We just nod because she's already in her "happy switch" and we don't want to trigger her "lunatic switch" if we say something.

So basically, we were, I guess, kind of wrong about Prof Lunatic being the best teacher in the world. She's a good teacher, but man oh man... my homeroom is always saying "This lady's crazy.".
In all, there are some classes when Prof Lunatic just goes berserk and we're so afraid of her. But then there are classes where we barely get work done and all we do is talk about food... It's always unpredictable in Prof Lunatic's classroom, honestly...
She's a very good teacher, and she cares about our health. She tells us to sleep in during the weekends and she will allow us to take naps in her class! But I guess we're all too scared of her to try to sleep while she's teaching so we don't know if she's lying about that. She's basically like our teacher/mom/friend. She's fun most of the time, and her messed up jokes makes us remember what we learn during class but she knows when to get serious which makes her an excellent teacher.

Anywho, that is what happens in Prof Lunatic's classes. I hope you kind of had a good laugh reading about my "crazy teacher"! Can you relate to this post? Thanks for reading! Take care everybody!

A Day Without Electricity

          Hey everyone!

So I experienced something that I thought wouldn't happen for me this week. This event happened on Wednesday so I will be talking in past tense.

It was snowing, a lot, in September, where I live. I woke up at about 6:05 am that morning but I stayed in bed because I was up pretty early. My mom was already awake and she was taking a shower so I could see some light from the hallway. I was just laying in bed when all of a sudden, I didn't see anything. Everything was pitch black.

At first I was confused. What the heck just happened? I thought, but I wasn't moving. I could hear my mom trying to turn on the light switch a few times- you know the sound, that click click?- but I didn't see any light. I heard my mom continue to shower, and I just laid in bed because I had no idea what to do and I was honestly kind of scared and worried because I could barely see anything. I was like that until I heard my mom get out of the bathroom, go downstairs, and light a few candles. That was when I jumped down from my bed and went down to see what was going on. One of my sisters was already awake too so we were all in the kitchen with lit candles, asking each other about what happened.

We had a power outage. Hooray.

Buuut that didn't stop me from wanting to go to school. So, I washed my face, brushed my teeth, changed into regular clothes and ate breakfast in the dark. By then the sun outside was coming out and I could see that it snowed a lot the previous night. It was also starting to snow too. The snowflakes were very visible.

I decided to text my friends to ask them if they had a power outage like I did. Nope, none of them did... But one of my friends was already at school because try outs for volleyball were in the morning and she was going to try out. She said that our school had a power outage too. I asked her if school was still going to continue having classes. My friend said that the principal said that if it was safer to stay at home then we could stay at home. I told that to my parents and then we heard a loud snap from outside.

We dashed to a window and saw, a huge tree branch from our tree in front of our house split from the trunk. And that was when my parents said that I should stay home. I actually wasn't happy, I wanted to go to school. But I couldn't, so I stayed home for the entire day without any kind of electricity.

That means that there was no heat whatsoever in the house. The only thing that could warm me up were hoodies, socks, candles, and steamed water that we heated with this portable gas thing that we usually use to eat hot pot with. Also, we didn't have internet at all. We couldn't do laundry, use the stove, watch TV, I couldn't even print my homework with the printer and it was due the next day! So what did I do?

I actually didn't do anything interesting, really. I only slept, ate, listened to music, and played a lot of piano because that was really all I could really do. So basically I spent the day playing piano...

My family and I decided to order pizza from Pizza Hut for supper. My parents went to go get them and when they came back home we ate. We put a candle in the center of our dining table to have a little light while we ate our pizza.

When we were done, my family and I were certain that we wouldn't have electricity for the night as well so we had to dress up warmly for bed. We were disappointed, sad, agitated, and freezing. Seriously, I had two pairs of socks and those boot slippers on and my feet were still cold!

My sister wanted to get something out of the fridge. She opened it, and then like, three seconds later, the light bulb in the fridge lit up. She gasped/cried loudly. And then the whole family yelled of happiness, and I started dancing and whooping loudly..! OUR POWER WAS BACK ON!
End of story!

I just wanted to tell you about my day without electricity. I felt like sharing what happened to me on that eventful day. It actually wasn't that bad as I thought it'd be, honestly. But would I ever want to experience it again? Nope.
I hope that you enjoyed reading this! Have you ever gone a day without electricity? Especially when it was snowing?

A Little Update...

          Hey everyone!

Whoof, back to school... It's been pretty hectic in the house, am I right? I'm right, aren't I? Everyone's tired and grumpy and getting used to some new routines. I know I am! I really did not expect to have a BOAT load of work so fast... Heheh... Anyway, so that's why I'm writing this quick post for you all.

I might have to write less frequently as I used to from now on because of the unexpected amount of work that I have. So instead of writing and putting up a post every three or four days, I think I might have to resort in putting up a post once every week. I still want to write on my blog, and this seems more convenient for me.

I will be publishing posts every Sunday!

So let's recap to make sure that we're all on the same page: I am going to write on my blog once a week, on Sundays.
Alrighty! So there's the little update and changes I'm doing to the blog. Now, I guess I'll see you on Sunday which is tomorrow actually! I already finished typing up a post for you guys so stay tuned for tomorrow!!

Keep Smiling,
M-L
