How are you all?
One of the negative things of school is having to wake up early in the morning and get ready for school in a certain amount of time, depending on what time you wake up at and the time your school starts at. Buuut sometimes we just love the warmth our bed gives us when you wake up so you start thinking Oh, I still have time. I'll sleep for ten more minutes. Then you start hitting your snooze button on your alarm and then... you're late for your classes.
That is why I will tell you what to do when you are running late for school! And do not worry guys, you are reading the words of a professional here, an expert. Proof? I maaay have been late every now and then for school. Or almost all five days in the week... Don't look at me like that! We've all been there! ;) It's even worse when you don't put on the snooze option so instead of sleeping in for ten more minutes, you're sleeping for thirty, forty, FIFTY more!
I have an odd case of never putting on my snooze option because I always think that I'll be able to wake up in the morning with that ONE alarm. I'm just too stubborn when it comes to that! But because of that I am now a "certified" professional! ;)
So, for this post, I will share with you the things I do so that I'm not late for school because unfortunately, sleeping in is not an excuse when you tell your teacher... =\ I wish it was... don't you?
Before we go into the morning, here are some things you can do the night before so it saves you more time.
- Pack your bags with everything you'll need the next day. You'll be sure to have everything in the morning and you won't have to stress out about forgetting something.
- Take a shower at night. You won't have to stress about showering in the morning. I take martial art classes on Mondays and Thursdays and I go to the adult's classes. The kids' classes ends at 7:45 so then it's our turn. The adult classes end past 9 pm so after I get home I'll hop in the shower (with my muscles sore most of the time but refreshing when warm water hits my skin!). Then I wash my face and brush my teeth and then blow dry my hair. By the time I slide into my covers, it's already 10:30 pm. That is one of the reasons why I want to sleep in... But anyway, that's why I have the tendency to shower at night
- If you want to pack your own lunch, make it the night before and stick it if the fridge. Before you head out the door you can just open your fridge and toss your lunch in your bag. Or if you want, just put some money in your bag and buy your lunch at school. Whichever floats your boat.
Now into the morning, when you are unexpectedly late! Duh duh duh!
Right when you wake up, go brush your teeth first. Just jump out of bed with your drool and brush
your teeth because you will have 100% morning breath. And even though you may have gum to cover up, it will only last for so long and it's safer to actually freshen your breath with real toothpaste so you're sure it will last all day. If you want, you can wash your face too. I do that because it only takes me like, a minute to do.
I really recommend you putting some sunscreen on. It's important because you don't want skin cancer. Even if it seems cloudy or it's snowing or raining, sun rays can still penetrate through the clouds and will still damage your skin (scary, right?). I walk home from school, and when it's warm and sunny outside, I eat outside with my friends, so it's a must for me to wear sunscreen!
Next is choosing your outfit. I recommend wearing a basic t-shirt and wearing a hoodie with jeans.
Or a loose, over sized sweater with leggings. That's what I usually wear when I'm late. It's still very stylish! For shoes, sneakers are your best choice. I don't recommend laces though, unless your laces are already tied and all you have to do is push your foot in (like me). Uggs are easy to wear and they're fashionable. Another option is zipper boots. You can just zip 'em up and bolt out in style. My number one go-tos are my white tennis shoes, my blue Converse sneakers or my brown comfy boots. And for accessories, they're not necessary, but if you have the time, go with a basic necklace, bracelet or pair of earrings. But if you're really late, don't even bother looking at what you have. Sometimes, if I feel too boring with my outfit, I go with this very elegant, long, bronze necklace that has an analogue clock which used to actually work but because I've had it for so long, it stopped working... It's very pretty and will go with almost anything you wear!
Now for hairstyles! The number one option here is just putting your hair in a ponytail. Your hair might be too flat and oily if you let it down. Although in the morning, if you think it looks okay, then you can wear it down. Another option is putting your hair half up. Just grab half of your hair and clip it at the back of your head. I wear my hair half up and half down for school because it's very simple but stylish. Adding a bow clip makes you look like you spent more time getting ready in the morning! Also, braiding your hair on the side is a cute look. It's simple like a ponytail, but it adds more style. Of course though, you need a can of dry shampoo. It absorbs oil from your scalp. Some of them have scents so that your hair smells really good. And some of them makes your hair voluminous! Buy a can of dry shampoo because it is a staple.
You need to eat breakfast in the morning. If not then at least something to eat. Even if you think you still have time, don't go for pancakes or eggs. Just eat cereal with milk. Or make toast with butter and jam or with peanut butter. If you are waaay too late, just grab a granola bar and bolt and eat your granola bar as you head to school. To make you more awake, drink orange juice. It will boost your energy you need for school. But if you don't have orange juice, water is best.
That reminds me of something funny I remember that I want to share with you guys. Okay, so during the school year last year, I woke up late and before I was about to go get cereal out of my pantry, I remembered that I had my foods (cooking) class first thing in the morning (that isn't an options class, everyone has to take it)! And we were also making breakfast stuff at the time too, like waffles, pancakes, eggs, crepes, etc... so instead I went to school as usual. My foods class started and we made waffles. I ate my waffles as my breakfast! And then I went to my next class!
Anyway, then you can just grab your packed bag and bolt out the door! It'll be as if you never woke up fifteen minutes before school started. =P
Hope this helps some of you out there! Thank you for reading and I'll talk to you later!
Keep Smiling,
M-L
