I've been recently buying a lot of books, and I don't think I ever bought these many books in the span of... let's say a couple months. I was wondering what to write on this blog for this week, and then I looked at my bookcase, and thought, why not share the books I recently bought? So today's post will be, not a book haul, but not surely a whole bunch of book reviews. I call it a blast of books! This will not be in particular order.

The first book on the list is Cinder by Marissa Meyer! I got this as a birthday present, and I finished reading it. I really liked this book, and it was a fast read for me! Cinder is like, another version of Cinderella, mixed with dystopia and robots/cyborgs.

The next book is The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I'm pretty sure this is the second book of the first, which is called The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, I think? Anyways, I finished reading it a while back. I loved it! I love mysteries, and so I really liked reading this book. Inside the book are 12 short stories, the last one being so emotional for me! The last short story is called "The Final Problem", ooh. All the Post-Its are the words I don't know, so I write down the word and then I'll write the definition of it, and I put it on a wall in my room. My "word wall" hihi.

The next is The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand. I finished reading this a while back as well, and it was a pretty quick read. I never really planned on buying this book, but I took too long to pick a book to buy, and I skimmed the synopsis of this book and it seemed pretty interesting, so I just grabbed it. It may sound gloomy, but this book is about a girl coping and recovering from the death of her younger brother, who committed suicide. I don't usually read this kind of book, but I decided to "branch out", and start reading other types of books. I liked reading this book!

I am currently reading this book, and it is called Sea of Shadows by Kelley Armstrong. Now to be honest, I bought this book simply because they were selling it at Costco, and they were selling it for literally half the price of what they would sell it for at another bookstore! The book is a fantasy novel, and I'm not really into fantasy, but I said before that I'm "branching out". Sea of Shadows is... kind of confusing for me to explain, but basically it's about two sisters, twins, who are the Keeper and Seeker, who try to calm down the spirits of the Forest of the Dead. But then "the spirits will not be quieted". The twins are separated, and they have to try to find each other again. So far it's pretty interesting.

Next on the list is The Little Woods McCormick Templeman. I haven't started reading this yet, but it sounds pretty... intriguing! So if I read the synopsis correctly, it's about this girl Cally who is transferred to this very "elite, tough" boarding school. The boarding school, however, is where her sister and her friend disappeared from. And then later Cally discovers that another girl disappeared from that school as well. Now Cally is interested in this, and thinks that all three disappearances are linked together, so now she wants to figure out why. Oooh. That sounds like a mystery to me, and who loves a mystery?!

This was another birthday gift. This is Crossed, the second book in the Matched trilogy by Ally Condie. I don't have Matched, and I haven't read it either haha! So I haven't read this yet, obviously. I also don't know what it's about. I mean, I have little clue. I'm pretty sure it's a "dystopian society" kind of book, where society chooses your "love of your life". I'm excited to read this though, because it's pretty popular.

This was also another birthday present! I haven't read this book yet either, but it sounds pretty good though. It is called Also Known As, by Robin Benway. It's about this teenage girl who's a spy, and her first assignment is to attend a high school undercover for a mission. I'm pretty excited to read this book. It should be fun reading about the life of a teenage girl working undercover!

Last but certainly not least, because this is one of my favourite reads, is To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han!! I have been eyeing this book for a long time, and I finally bought it, a birthday present for me! I read it and I really liked it, loved it even. It's about this girl who writes love letters to all the guys she's ever liked before, but she doesn't send them. Until one day it is sent. And then a whole lot of drama goes down. And I really enjoyed it! Ah!
I will try to write a book review for each of these books! I hope you enjoyed reading this post. I also hope you have a sudden urge to start reading a book as well, haha.
Keep Smiling,
M-L
